HIGH POINT, N.C – Head Coach Wyatt Foust has hired Holly Hoopingarner to serve as the Assistant Coach / Recruiting Coordinator for High Point University women's basketball, HPU President Dr. Nido Qubein and Vice President and Athletic Director
Dan Hauser announced on Thursday.
Holly Hoopingarner comes to High Point after four seasons on staff at Butler University, where she served as an assistant coach from 2022 through the 2025-26 campaign. During her time with the Bulldogs, she played a key role in player development, guard instruction, and scouting, while also making a strong impact on the program's recruiting efforts. Following the 2024-25 season, she was recognized as one of the WBCA's Thirty Under 30 honorees.
"I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity to join the women's basketball program at High Point University under Coach Foust," Hoopingarner said. "This is a special place with a strong culture, and I'm excited to help develop our student-athletes both on and off the court. I look forward to contributing to the continued success of this program."
Prior to her time at Butler, Hoopingarner spent the 2021-22 season at IUPUI, working alongside head coach Austin Parkinson. She also gained experience in the SEC as a graduate assistant at Florida during the 2020-21 season, where she was part of a staff that advanced to postseason play in the WNIT.
"Holly is a rising star in coaching, and she brings a refreshing energy to the gym every time she walks in," Foust said. "She has separated herself by outworking others in a career, which is hard to do. Most importantly, she loves her players as hard as she recruits them and will help establish our 'family first' culture right away."
A native of Greenwood, Indiana, Hoopingarner is no stranger to IUPUI, having enjoyed a standout playing career with the Jaguars from 2016-20. As a point guard, she helped lead the program to its first conference tournament championship and earned Horizon League Tournament MVP honors. She was also awarded the prestigious Cecil N. Coleman Medal of Honor, recognizing the league's top female student-athlete for excellence in academics, athletics, and extracurricular involvement.
Hoopingarner finished her collegiate career as a two-time Horizon League All-Academic Team selection and earned All-Horizon League Second Team honors as a senior. She surpassed 1,000 career points - becoming the 27th player in program history to do so - and totaled 305 assists during her time on the court.
During her four seasons as a student-athlete, IUPUI compiled an 89-39 record with four consecutive postseason appearances and four 20-win seasons. She later returned to the program as a coach and helped guide the Jaguars to a 24-5 record in 2021-22, capturing both the Horizon League regular season and tournament titles to secure an NCAA Tournament berth. That season included a school-record 14-game winning streak and a notable road upset of No. 15 Iowa.
Hoopingarner attended Greenwood High School, where she graduated as the program's all-time leading scorer with 1,614 points. She also set single-game (42) and single-season (591) scoring records and earned Indiana Junior All-Star and Indiana All-Star honors.
