High Point Hires Wyatt Foust as Women's Basketball Head Coach

HIGH POINT, N.C. — Wyatt Foust has been named the sixth head coach in High Point University women's basketball history, HPU President Dr. Nido Qubein and Vice President and Athletic Director Dan Hauser announced Monday night.

Foust arrives at High Point after spending four total seasons on staff at Murray State, where he most recently served as associate head coach and recruiting coordinator during the 2025-26 season. He was promoted to that role after two years as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator, and before being an assistant with the Racers he served as the team's Director of Basketball Operations during the 2021-22 season. During his time at Murray State, the Racers compiled an impressive 98-34 overall record.

"High Point University's national success is on fire, and we have secured a new women's basketball head coach in Wyatt Foust that will continue to elevate our championship achievement," HPU Vice President and Athletic Director Dan Hauser said! "Serving as the offensive and recruiting coordinator, Wyatt has built a basketball brand that was top 5 in the nation in offensive scoring two years in a row and won multiple championships with back-to-back NCAA Tournament appearances. He values family and building impactful relationships with players, donors, and fans which are cornerstones of our HPU Athletic Department. Wyatt is also a relentless recruiter and his passion for excellence is unmatched. We welcome Wyatt Foust and his wife Jenna, and children Coy, Noa, and Townes to the High Point community!"

In his most recent season, Foust helped guide Murray State to a 30-4 overall record and a 19-1 mark in Missouri Valley Conference play in 2025-26. The Racers captured both the Missouri Valley regular season and tournament championships en route to earning a No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament, and being ranked No. 5 nationally in scoring offense. The year prior with the Racers in 2024-25, he compiled a 25-8 overall record and 16-4 conference record, while being crowned Missouri Valley Regular Season Champions, Missouri Valley Tournament Champions and earning an No. 11 seed in the NCAA Tournament and being ranked No. 2 in the nation in scoring offense.

"I'm honored Dr. Qubein and AD Hauser have put their faith in me to lead the women's basketball program here at High Point University," Foust said. "This university is on a meteoric trajectory in every aspect and I'm excited to continue to elevate this program to new heights."

Foust has been part of three NCAA Tournament teams at Murray State, earning bids in 2021-22, 2024-25, and 2025-26. The 2021-22 appearance marked the program's first postseason berth since 2009.

Between his stints at Murray State, Foust spent the 2022-23 season as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator at Buffalo. He returned to Murray State for the 2023-24 season, where he helped improve the win total by five wins for a WNIT appearance. From there, Foust oversaw all recruiting and took the lead on offensive game planning that elevated the Racers' win total to 25 wins in 2024-25 and then 31 wins in 2025-26 to sweep Missouri Valley titles and earn NCAA Tournament bids.

Before entering the collegiate ranks, Foust found tremendous success at the high school level in Kentucky, compiling a 101-15 record. He spent two seasons at Butler Traditional High School, leading the Bears to a 41-8 record and consecutive Region 6 title game appearances.

Prior to that, Foust served as the head girls' varsity coach at Murray High School in 2018 and 2019, where he posted a 60-7 record. He guided the Tigers to back-to-back KHSAA Sweet 16 appearances and won the 2018 "All-A" State Championship. Foust was named Kentucky Coach of the Year by USA Today and earned Region Coach of the Year honors twice.

Foust also held coaching roles at Owensboro Catholic, Notre Dame Academy, and Greenwood High School, where he began his career at his alma mater in 2012.

He graduated from Kentucky Wesleyan College in 2012 with a Bachelor of Science in Biology. He later earned master's degrees from Western Kentucky (2014) and Georgetown College (2019) in recreation and sport management and teaching.

Foust and his wife, Jenna, have three children: Coy, Noa, and Townes.

A press conference formally announcing Foust and his family joining HPU will be announced at a later date.
