RALEIGH, N.C. / DAVIDSON, N.C. / AUSTIN, Texas – The High Point University men's and women's track and field teams split between three meets competing at two in North Carolina and one in Texas.
Raleigh Relays – Raleigh, N.C.
On Thursday evening, High Point kicked off the Raleigh Relays with some distance running events.
Aiden Morrison competed in his second 3000m steeplechase this season and registered a new personal best time of 9:12.19. In the 10,000m race,
Hunter Steinau also recorded a personal best with a 29:08.64 time.
The Panthers had a full day on Friday at the Raleigh Relays, opening the day in the morning with both running and field events.
Two Panthers broke the men's high jump record as both
Alex Constantinou and
Shaun Thomas cleared 2.15m to place second and third respectively. Thomas previously set the record a season ago at the Big South Championships with a 2.14m clear.
In the men's 110m hurdles,
Dominiq Northington posted a new personal best 14.51 time to finish in the top 20.
Keshon Sapp also placed in the top 20 in the men's 100m dash with a 10.66 time and
Tim Brown placed 18th in the men's 400m with a 47.64 time.
On Friday evening in the women's distance races,
Alyssa Hendrix recorded a personal best in the 5000m with a 16:34.49 time.
Charli Montalvo also recorded a personal best in the last race of the night in the 10,000m, recording a 34:22.30 for 11th place overall out of 71 racers.
Rounding out the meet on Saturday,
Ebba Ahman had her best performance in the 400m hurdles, clocking a new personal best 1:00.13 to place ninth overall. Two Panthers placed in the top 10 in the men's and women's long jump.
Ashari Pearson jumped 5.65m to earn 10th place while
Justin Sluijter jumped 7.18m for seventh place.
Gianna Paul also competed in the women's long jump and jumped 5.62m for 12th overall.
In the men's triple jump,
Mobu Nwakor placed 14th after jumping 13.97m.
Quiana Williams placed in the top 20 in the women's 200m after running a 24.16 time.
Davidson Relays – Davidson, N.C.
Kicking off the single-day meet at the Davidson Relays, the meet started with the men's and women's hammer throw.
Alex Hoffman took first place with a season-best 57.32m throw, followed by
Bradley Weiner in fifth place with a personal-best 49.49m and
Prince Brockington in seventh with a personal-best 47.77m. On the women's side, Jill Stroup threw 48.57m for third place.
In the men's discus,
Caleb Barley and Weiner threw personal bests as Barley threw 48.41m to place third and Weiner threw 44.44m for seventh place. Barley also threw a personal best in the shot put placing second with a 16.73m throw.
Elise Magaard represented HPU in the women's discus and shot put, throwing 39.96m in the discus and 12.10m in the shot put, placing in the top five in both events.
In both the men's and women's javelin, three Panthers placed in the top five.
Kelly Chaballa threw 36.31m to place third overall in the women's javelin.
Drew Noblet and
Jake Gherardi placed second and fourth respectively, throwing 60.52m and 58.20m.
Texas Relays – Austin, Texas
Sydney Horn was the lone competitor at the Texas Relays, representing High Point in the women's pole vault university elite category. Horn cleared 4.22m.
