Newton Shoots Hole-In-One at Seminole Intercollegiate

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — High Point University men's golfer Grady Newton hit his first career hole-in-one as the Panthers wrapped up their third spring tournament at the Seminole Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon.

The Panthers finished 14th led by HPU senior, Gregor Meyer. Meyer secured his best round in the second with a score of 3-under 69, carding six birdies in the second and 10 overall to place T28.

Newton and Fred Roberts IV both took home T58. Newton highlighted the second round with his first career hole-in-one to card 2-over in the round, securing a 229 total. Similar to Meyer and Newton, Roberts IV shot a good solid round of 1-over with seven birdies throughout the tournament. 

Burch Harrison was next on the board for the Panthers. Similarly to his teammates, Harrison's second round was his best as the sophomore carded even to help him to a T71 finish. Freshman Jay Smith rounded out the Panther lineup securing a T74 finish with a 235 total.

Up Next: HPU travels to Tennessee to attend the Sweetens Cove Match Play on March 25th and 26th.
