High Point, N.C. — High Point University Athletics is elated to announce that its Sports Medicine Department was featured on the front cover of the 2023 Medco Product Guide released on March 6.
The almost 850-page catalog highlights the HPU Sports Medicine Department and its facilities inside the cutting-edge Nido and Mariana Qubein Arena and Conference Center over the first five pages. It's a product guide that is distributed nationwide to athletic departments, physical therapy clinics and sports medicine providers.
"We are very proud of our High Point University Sports Medicine Department! Every day our dedicated staff provide outstanding health care for our HPU student-athletes," HPU Athletic Director and Vice President Dan Hauser said. "HPU Athletics is focused on collaboration and investing in state-of-the-art equipment to give our team the best tools for managing student-athlete care. The results over the past eight years have proven successful with record setting championships and athletic achievement."
Since Joshua Geruso joined his alma mater as the Associate Athletic Director for Sports Medicine in 2015, he has been vying to get HPU front and center on the Medco Product Guide. After eight years, the 2003 HPU graduate's wish was finally granted and he was able to show off the Panthers' extraordinary facilities, staff, and student-athletes.

"With the resources that we have here in the facilities, I do believe that we can be a really competitive program nationally," Geruso said in an exclusive interview with Medco. "What we've been doing here has certainly proven — over the last eight years that I've been here — that we can get from a 200th ranked program to the top 75, and hopefully we can keep moving."
Every year, HPU raises the standard and it was shown when HPU won the 2022 Sasser Cup, which is given to the top overall athletics program in the Big South, for the first time in program history. The student-athletes' success mirrors the work in the sports medicine realm as the HPU staff leans on its mission statement to match the university's promise to be extraordinary in every facet.
"The mission of the High Point University Sports Medicine Department is to deliver extraordinary health care utilizing an interdisciplinary team to provide our student-athletes with a holistic environment that will foster their athletic and personal well-being, all within the role of the greater institutional relationships to the Athletic Department and University. Key initiatives to assist in accomplishing the goal of the sports medicine department include commitment to superior outcomes, continuing education, data-driven decisions, efficient use of resources, effective communication, and departmental transparency."
On top of the interview with Geruso, the catalog features athletic trainers Cam Linsley, who works with men's lacrosse and men's golf, as well as Katie Yakel, who oversees the women's lacrosse team. There are multiple student-athletes within the product guide receiving treatment and rehabbing, while the nine-person staff is pictured in front of the water fountain placed outside the Qubein Center where the HPU men's and women's basketball teams are housed.
