HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University women's basketball team looks to continue to build momentum on Tuesday when they take on Longwood at 7 p.m. in Farmville, Va.
Â
Behind junior
Kat Harris' seven early points, the Panthers (6-13, 4-4) cruised to an 87-60 victory over Presbyterian on Sunday in the Millis Center. Harris and sophomore
Emma Bockrath each tallied 15 points while 13 different players scored for the Purple & White.
Â
Quick Hitters:
•
Emma Bockrath has ramped up her already staggering production since the conference season started. The sophomore is averaging 14.0 points, 6.8 rebounds, 3.5 assists and 2.3 steals in HPU's eight league contests.
Â
•
Kat Harris is 48-of-54 (.889) from the charity stripe and trails only CSU's Ke'Asia Jackson (.896) as she looks to repeat as the Big South's top free thrower this season.
Â
• Outside of her record scoring pace,
Kaylah Keys is headed toward other remarkable career milestones. The guard needs 45 rebounds, nine assists and eight steals to become the first Panther in the team's Division I era to rack up 400 rebounds, 300 assists and 200 steals.
Â
• In 2015-16, the Purple & White averaged 35.8 rebounds per game and finished 241st in the nation. However, this season the Panthers are 81st this year with 40.2 rebounds per contest.
Â
• High Point was credited with 21 assists on its 31 made shots against the Blue Hose on Sunday. Now the team averages assists on 60.1 percent of its field goals this season. For comparison, the 2015-16 squad dished out assists on 50.5 percent of its made baskets while the Lancers have assisted on 54.4 percent of their buckets this winter.
Â
• In the team's eight conference games the HPU defense is pulling down the rebound on 71.2 percent of its opponents' misses, which is good for second in the league. In the non-conference, High Point grabbed just 68.5 percent of defensive rebounds chances.
Â
•
Shea Morgan has come on in Big South action scoring 7.0 points per game while knocking down 26-of-45 field goal attempts (.578).
Keys is Still Climbing
• Senior
Kaylah Keys became High Point's Division I scoring leader with 13 points on Dec. 21 at Western Carolina. The guard is fifth on the all-time scoring list with 1,692 points after passing Angie Green on Sunday.
Â
• The guard is the leading active scorer in the Big South Conference and is 17th among active players nationally.
Â
• Last week, the Memphis, Tenn. product moved into fourth on HPU's Division I career rankings in steals and assists.
Â
• Keys' next three-pointer will push her past Jurica Hargraves as the program's all-time top three-pointer shooter.
Â
• If she starts on Tuesday, Keys will tie Frances Fields for the most in HPU's Division I history with 105 starts.
Â
All-Time Series with Longwood
High Point leads the all-time series between the two programs by a 22-11 margin. Since the Lancers joined the league, HPU is 8-0 and holds a 10-game win streak.
Â
Last Time They Met
Four Panthers scored in double figures as HPU went 24-of-25 from the charity stripe to earn an 89-70 victory at Longwood.
Â
Scouting the Lancers
Longwood is off to a rough start in conference play dropping their first eight Big South matchups. Senior Eboni Gilliam, who is one of six Big South players averaging at least 10.0 points and 6.0 rebounds per game, leads the Lancers in scoring and rebounding.
Â
The Matchup to Watch
After piling up 87 points against Presbyterian, HPU enters Tuesday as the league's top scoring squad (66.4 ppg). On the other hand, Longwood has the conference's second-highest scoring defense in the Big South (76.2 ppg).

HPU returns home to host UNC Asheville on Saturday in an ESPN3 double-header with the HPU men's team who also hosts the Bulldogs.
