HIGH POINT, N.C. – After enjoying time off for Christmas break, the High Point University women's basketball team wraps up non-conference play against UNCG on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Millis Center.

The Panthers (2-8) battled hard, but fell 73-64 against another Southern Conference foe at Western Carolina on Wednesday, Dec. 21. Despite taking the loss, senior Kaylah Keys posted 13 points to move past Shamia Brown and become the program's Division I scoring leader.

Quick Hitters:
• Outside of her record scoring pace, Kaylah Keys is headed toward other remarkable career milestones. The guard needs 62 rebounds, 30 assists and 21 steals to become the first Panther in the team's Division I era to rack up 400 rebounds, 300 assists and 200 steals.

• Eight different Panthers have posted double-digit scoring efforts this season led by Kaylah Keys and Lindsey Edwards with six and five such performances this year. Last season, the squad only featured seven players with a double-figure scoring outing.
Kat Harris has paced the Purple & White in scoring in three of the last four games while averaging 15.8 points per game on the strength of 10-of-23 shooting from beyond the arc.

• Harris is now 30-of-35 (.857) from the line this year, which is good for second in the Big South as she looks to repeat as the league's top free thrower.

• Keys is seventh in the Big South with 1.5 steals per outing this season. The Memphis, Tenn. product is up to 179 steal in her career in the Purple & White, which is th sixth-most in HPU D-I era

• The Purple & White averaged 20.4 miscues in the first five games, but have taken better care of the ball in the last four games tallying just 14.6 turnovers per contest.

• The Panthers are sharing the ball at a high level this season. After assisting on 50.5 percent of the team's field goals in 2015-16, the squad is helping on 59.7 percent of its made baskets this winter.

HPU's The Swiss Army Knife
Emma Bockrath has done a little bit of everything for the Panthers this season including starting as a guard and a forward. The sophomore ranks in the top-5 of the squad in almost all statistical categories.
            • Scoring: 9.1 ppg (third)
            • Rebounding: 5.4 rpg (second)
            • Assists: 3.3 apg (first)
            • Steals: 12 (second)
            • Blocks: 2 (third)
            • Field Goals: 37 (first)

• The Dayton, Ohio product is the only player in the conference to average at least 8.0 points, 5.0 rebounds and 3.0 assists per contest.

Keys is Still Climbing
Senior Kaylah Keys became High Point's Division I scoring leader with 13 points on Dec. 21 at Western Carolina. The guard is sixth on the all-time scoring list with 1,591 points and is 96 points from fifth-place Angie Green.

• The guard ranks 17th in scoring in Big South history and needs eight points to move past Pam Tolbert of Charleston Southern and into 16th. Likewise, she's in the top-10 on the league's three-pointers made list.

All-Time Series with the Spartans
Friday marks the 28th meeting all-time between the Piedmont Triad rivals with the Panthers holding a 14-13 edge. Last season, the Spartans pulled within one in the series as Lucy Mason scored 42 points to lead UNCG to a 82-72 home victory. HPU's last win in the series - a 78-67 triumph on Dec. 8, 2014 - is the program's last non-conference win over a Division I foe.

Against the Southern Conference
The Panthers are 28-35 against the current members of the Southern Conference. High Point's last two non-conference foes hail from the SoCon after falling 73-64 at Western Carolina on Dec. 21.

Scouting the Spartans
UNCG are 8-6 on the year and enter Friday on a three-game winning streak after topping Eastern Kentucky 81-66 on Wednesday night. Nadie Soliman leads the Spartans averaging 17.6 points and 4.8 rebounds per outing.

Next Up
Conference play kicks off for the Panthers on Tuesday, Jan. 3 as the Panthers host Winthrop. The Purple & White went 3-0 against the Eagles last season including a postseason win in the Big South Championship.
