HIGH POINT, N.C. – Fresh off an 82-49 season-opening win over Greensboro College, the High Point University women's basketball team hits the road to take on N.C. State on Sunday at 2:00 p.m.
 
The Panthers (1-0) were led by their balanced offensive attack and opportunistic defense in the victory over the Pride in the Millis Center on Friday night. Likewise, the Wolfpack (0-0) kicked off its season with a 70-64 win over Villanova.
 
Panther Notes:
• Junior Kaylah Keys came out hot with 15 points on the strength of three 3-pointers in the first quarter as HPU jumped out to a 30-14 lead.
 
• Senior Aariel Allen led the team in rebounding with seven and set a new career high with 10 points on the night
 
• Freshmen Haleigh Hatfield (11 points) and Lindsey Edwards (10 points) each notched the first double-digit scoring outings of their careers in their first games.
 
• 12 of the 13 Panthers scored in the game against Greensboro College as all 13 grabbed a rebound and played at least eight minutes.
 
• Behind three steals apiece from freshman Emma Bockrath and Edwards, the Purple & White forced 24 turnovers.
 
• High Point earned a +6 margin in rebounds on the night.
 
• Keys is just three points behind Erin Reynolds for eighth in the program's Division I scoring list.
 
Scouting the Wolfpack:
• In its season-opener against the Wildcats, N.C. State was led by Domonique Wilson with 21 points while the team hit 45 percent of its 3-point attempts.
 
• The squad is coming off an 18-15 season that ended in the third round of the WNIT tournament.
 
• The Wolfpack was picked to finish eighth in the ACC for the 2015-16 season a season after placing seventh.
 
• Four starters from last year's team return including senior Carly Shumaker, redshirt-junior Dominique Wilson and juniors Miah Spencer and Jennifer Mathurin.
 
• The talented backcourt duo of Spencer and Wilson combined for 27.8 points and 5.5 assists in 2014-15.
 
• N.C. State is a dangerous 3-point shooting team as Spencer (40), Wilson (58) and Mathurin (39) hit 137 3-pointers while all three shot over 31 percent.
 
All-Time Series:
The Wolfpack lead the all-time series 5-1 with High Point's lone winning coming in 1978 by a score of 97-55.
 
Last Time They Met:
On Nov. 21, 2014 the Panthers visited Reynolds Coliseum and fell 66-62 in a hotly-contested game. Then-sophomore Kaylah Keys paced the Purple & White with 19 points while Kat Harris chipped in with nine points and three assists.
 
Next Up:
HPU stays on the road next week for games at No. 9 Maryland (Wednesday, Nov. 18) and UNCG (Saturday, Nov. 21).
