Jasmine Byrd and KaLeah Latham both scored in double figures to lead UNC Greensboro to a 70-53 win over High Point Saturday night in women's basketball action at Fleming Gym in Greensboro, N.C.

Katie O'Dell led the Panthers with 16 points and 10 rebounds, while freshman Amber Manuel provided 12 points and a game-high 14 rebounds for HPU.

The host Spartans improved to 2-4, while High Point dropped to 2-5.

UNC Greensboro jumped out to a sizeable lead on two free throws by Kristen Boone which put the Spartans up 27-10 with 7:34 remaining in the first half. 

Byrd led all scorers with 21 points for UNC Greensboro. Latham racked up 10 points and tallied five boards and three blocks, while Boone added eight points and six rebounds.

High Point also got nine points from Emily Mills and Charlena Martin scored six points, two rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.

UNC Greensboro maintained a sizable lead throughout the second half, but couldn't string together a big run as it did in the first. The Panthers hung tough in the second half by matching the offensive output of the Spartans.  

The Panthers will hit the road once more this time traveling to the Image Depot Classic in Tampa, Fla. HPU will face off against host team South Florida on Dec. 18 at 7:00 pm and then return to action the following day (Dec. 19) to play Indiana State at 1:00 pm.
