Box Score Misty Brockman scored 21 points and Narelle Henry added 14 points and seven assists to lead High Point to a 61-53 win over Birmingham-Southern Thursday at the Millis Center.
The victory gave HPU (11-12 overall) a season sweep of BSC, and also broke the visiting Panthers' eight-game winning streak.
With the score tied at 25-25 in the early stages of the second half, High Point went on a 21-6 run over the next 8:30 to take its largest lead of the game at 46-31. BSC would climb to within 51-44 on a pair of Amy Woods' free throws with 3:50 to play, but HPU answered with a pair of consecutive baskets to put the game away.
Jessica Patrick scored a season-high 16 points for BSC (15-8) which lost for the first time on the road this season. It was also the first time BSC has lost in 16 contests when holding an opponent under 65 points.
High Point claimed a 39-34 rebounding advantage in the contest and shot 45.5 percent in the game, including 56.5 percent in the second period.
HPU put the clamps on BSC leading scorer Lindsay Boyett, holding her to 2-of-9 from the field and eight points. Boyett had 27 in the prior meeting, a 71-69 High Point win on Jan. 9 in Birmingham. Woods added nine points for BSC, while Atia Agee had eight.
High Point hosts UNC Asheville on Saturday afternoon at the Millis Center. Tip-off is scheduled for 4:00 pm.
