Misty Brockman scored a career-high 26 points, but it wasn't enough to thwart a Liberty comeback. Trailing by five with under three minutes left, the Lady Flames closed the game with a 13-2 run to defeat High Point, 77-71, at the Millis Center on Saturday afternoon.

The Lady Flames (18-7, 12-1 Big South) scored the game's first seven points, but lost their early lead and didn't regain it until Crystal Peace's jumper gave Liberty a 56-55 advantage with 7:45 remaining in the second half. High Point (12-14, 6-7) took a 35-30 lead to halftime and led by as many as 10 points before the comeback.

HPU's Narelle Henry nailed a three-pointer with 2:58 remaining to give the Panthers a 69-64 lead. But the Flames got a basket from Susan Foreid and a three pointer from Stephanie Walker (who led Liberty with 18 points) to tie the score. Meribeth Feenstra then gave Liberty the lead for good with a jumper in the paint with 1:16 to play.

High Point pulled within 73-71 on a pair of Toni Vick free throws with 44 seconds to go, but could get no closer.

Vick (12 points), Stephanie Scott (12 points), and Henry (10 points) joined Brockman in double figures for HPU. Kristal Tharp added 15 points for Liberty.

High Point closes its regular season slate at Elon next Saturday at 4:30 pm.
