Box Score

High Point got 14 points from freshman Keauna Vinson and 12 points from junior Narelle Henry in a 64-49 victory over Longwood Wednesday afternoon at the Millis Center.

The Panthers (2-1) broke open a close game midway through the second half for their second victory in less than 24 hours.

HPU defeated Gardner-Webb 65-40 Tuesday.

The Lancers (2-1), who are in the process of a move up to NCAA Division I, led by as many as 12 points in the first half before the Panthers closed the half with a 20-4 run and took a 28-24 lead to halftime. Eight Panther steals, including four by Henry, contributed to High Point's comeback.

Clinging to a slim 37-35 advantage with 9:03 to play, the Panthers built a 25-10 run to put the game out of reach.

Vinson was the second HPU freshman in as many games to score in double-figures. Katie O'Dell had 11 points against Gardner-Webb.

Longwood's Marita Meldere recorded a double-double (11 points, 13 rebounds) to lead the Lancers, who outrebounded HPU 45-29.

The Panthers forced Longwood into 34 turnovers. Henry had eight steals and Cebronica Scott and Misty Brockman four apiece.

The strange starting time (1:00 pm EST) was necessary to avoid a conflict with Wednesday night's High Point/Clemson men's basketball clash at the Greensboro Coliseum.

High Point travels to Buies Creek to face Campbell Saturday for a noon tip-off.
