No. 3 - Corey Law named 2013 Dark Horse Dunker
FULL STORY

High Point University senior Corey Law competed in the Denny's College Slam Dunk Contest live on ESPN on April 4 at the McCamish Pavilion on the campus of Georgia Tech in Atlanta, Ga. Law was selected to the event as the "2013 State Farm Dark Horse Dunker."

Law finished sixth in the first round with a score of 39.8 and did not advance to the semifinals. After attempting a complicated alley-oop off the backboard, Law threw down a standing windmill with time running out.

Detroit's Doug Anderson won the competition, beating Arizona State's Carrick Felix in the finals.

Other competitors in the Slam Dunk Championship were Missouri's Keion Bell, Long Beach State's James Ennis, LaSalle's Ramon Galloway, TCU's Garlon Green and USC's Renaldo Woodridge.

Celebrity judges for the event were Atlanta Falcons wide receivers Harry Douglas, Julio Jones and Roddy White as well as Denver Broncos wide receiver Demaryius Thomas. Thomas played college football at Georgia Tech.

Law was selected for the Dark Horse Dunker competition for his "dynamic combination of power and elevation" shown in this submission video. The official statement read: "Law flashes the in-game ability to dunk over anyone, and on the practice court, he can close a between-the-legs jam with ease." Law won a vote through Facebook, beating out 15 other Dark Horse Dunker entrants over five weeks.

The College Slam Dunk & 3-Point Championships celebrated its 25th anniversary this year and included the Hampton Hotels Men's 3-Point Championship, State Farm Women's 3-Point Championship, Pepsi MAX Battle of the Champions and Denny's Slam Dunk Championship.

This is the second-straight season that High Point has had a player compete in the College Slam Dunk and 3-Point Championship. HPU's Nick Barbour competed in the 3-Point Championship last year.

Law completed his collegiate career in 2012-13, scoring 887 points (8.1 ppg) with 693 rebounds (6.4 per game) in his four seasons. Law's 693 rebounds rank second on High Point's NCAA Div. I rebounding list. He led High Point in rebounding three times.
