No. 11 – Men's soccer starts season 10-0-1

The High Point University men's soccer team started the 2012 season with a 10-0-1 record and earned its first national ranking by the NSCAA, at No. 23 in the country on Oct. 2.

The Panthers opened the season with nine-straight wins to earn the No. 23 ranking on Oct. 2 after defeating William & Mary. HPU went on to tie VMI and beat Winthrop on the road to move to 10-0-1. The Panther suffered their first loss to ACC-opponent Virginia on Oct. 9, a close 2-1 battle on the road.

HPU opened the season with a 4-2 win at triad-rival Elon before coming home to pick up wins over Adelphi and Northern Kentucky in the Flash Gordon Motors Invitational. After a road win at Navy the Panthers won five in a row at home over UNC Greensboro, Longwood, Jacksonville, UNC Asheville and William & Mary to start the season 9-0. The next game was a defensive battle with Big South-foe, VMI that resulted in a 0-0 tie after two overtime periods.

The men's soccer team finished the season with a 12-5-3 record, the second most wins in a season for the Panthers since moving to Div. I. Seniors

Mamadee Nyepon earned All-Big South honors and redshirt-freshman goalkeeper
Kody Palmer was named the Big South Freshman of the Year. Sloan was also named the Big South Scholar-Athlete of the Year and a first-team CoSIDA Academic All-American.

No. 13 - Montrello scores first HPU men's lacrosse goal
No. 12 - Allan Chaney named CBSSports Comeback Player of the Year
