No. 5 – Emery named Most Outstanding at Big South Outdoor Championship

Junior Evan Emery won both the 100-meter and 200-meter dashes and was named Big South Most Outstanding Track Performer, leading the High Point University men's track & field team to a third-place finish at the Big South Championship on April 20, 2013 in Lynchburg, Va.

Emery won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.47 into a -1.3 headwind and took the 200-meter dash in 20.84 with a legal wind of 0.5. He was the top seed in both events heading into the meet. Emery's Most Outstanding Track Performer honor was the first ever for HPU in men's track & field.

Emery qualified for the NCAA Preliminary for the second straight year and was ranked 23rd in the 200-meter with his season-best and HPU-record time of 20.84 from the Big South Championship. He placed seventh in his heat and 38th overall in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.56.
