No. 16 – Chase Wilson wins three straight tournaments

Senior Chase Wilson of the High Point University men's golf team won three straight tournaments in the fall, picking up individual medals at the Joe Agee Invitational, Donald Ross Intercollegiate and a dual match with Gardner-Webb.

At the Joe Agee, Wilson tied his career-low 54-hole score with a seven-under 206 to claim the individual medal while leading HPU to a team win. The Panthers won the tournament by one stroke over Radford with a total score of 861, the program's lowest 54-hole total in Div. I history.

Wilson followed up his back-to-back 67s on Monday with a one-over 72 on Tuesday. The senior matched his own HPU Div. I 54-hole record of 206 for the tournament which he set when he won the individual medal at the 2010 Sea Trail. Wilson finished the tournament with 16 birdies and one eagle and led all competitors with a score of -4 on the Par-4s.

Two weeks later Wilson claimed the top spot at the Donald Ross Intercollegiate. He entered the final round in second, two-strokes behind Casey Komline of Appalachian State, after turning in a one-under 69 in the first round and two-under 68 in the second. The senior struggled at the start of the third round and entered the turn at four-over but bounced back with three birdies in his final nine holes to card a one-over 71 and finish with a 54-hole score of 208 (69-68-71). Wilson won his second individual medal of the season by one stroke over Komline, who shot a four-over 74 in the final round.

Wilson picked up his third straight win in a dial match with Big South rival Gardner-Webb, shooting a three-under 69 to finish two strokes ahead of teammate Sam Stewart.
