No. 9 - Men's basketball wins Big South North Division title

The High Point University men's basketball went 12-4 in Big South Conference play and won the North Division title in 2012-13. It is High Point's first Big South basketball championship since joining the league in 1999-2000.

The Panthers clinched the North Division with a 78-67 win at VMI on Feb. 19. The Panthers overcame a 13-point first-half deficit to finish the first half on a 15-4 run and outscore VMI 52-39 in the second half.

High Point's last conference championship in men's basketball was 1996-97, when the team won the Conference Carolinas Tournament and advanced to the second round of the NCAA Div. II Tournament.

HPU also set a program record with 12 Big South wins. High Point's previous best was 11 in 2006-07 and the Panthers finished second in the regular season. HPU participated in the CollegeInsider.com Tournament, the program's first postseason appearance since moving up to NCAA Div. I in 1999-2000.
