Brad Franks named assistant men's soccer coach

Brad Franks has rejoined the High Point University men's soccer coaching staff as an assistant coach, head coach Dustin Fonder announced on Wednesday. Franks returns to HPU after spending last spring as the volunteer assistant coach at Wake Forest University.

"We are extremely excited to have Brad Franks back at High Point University," Fonder said. "He is a motivated young coach and will be a tireless worker in our pursuit of championships here at HPU. My relationship with Brad dates all the way back to when he was a high school junior and I have a great deal of respect for him and his entire family. Brad picked up valuable experience during his time with Wake Forest and I look forward to him using that experience to help improve our team moving forward."

Franks was part of the Wake Forest coaching staff during a successful 2013 spring campaign in which the Demon Deacons went undefeated with a 2-0-3 record. WFU finished the spring with three-straight shutouts over VCU, Virginia and North Carolina.

"I am thrilled to be back with the High Point men's soccer program," Franks said. "I want to thank Coach Vidovich and the Wake Forest family. Although I was only there for a short time, the experience was invaluable in my development as a young coach. I also want to thank Coach Fonder and athletic director Craig Keilitz for giving me the chance to return to High Point. The strides both the university and the men's soccer program have made here over the past five years show their commitment to success and I am excited to once again be a part of it."

Prior to joining Wake Forest, Franks worked for two seasons as the HPU men's soccer volunteer assistant, taking care of the Panthers' day-to-day operations, the planning and execution of practices and all video analysis. High Point won 21 games and achieved its first NSCAA national ranking during Franks' first tenure with the squad.

Franks was a four-year starter for the Elon University men's soccer team, appearing in 77 games as a midfielder for the Phoenix with 61 starts over four years. He finished his career with 22 points on five goals and 12 assists, including a team-best six during his senior season. Franks was named first-team All-Southern Conference as a senior and second-team All-Southern Conference as a junior. He started every game over his final three years at Elon.

Franks holds a NSCAA National Diploma. A native of Medford, N.J., Franks was an All-State player at Shawnee High School. He netted 25 goals and tallied 62 assists during his prep career.
