Six Panthers Earn CSC Academic All-District Recognition

GREENWOOD, Ind. – The College Sports Communicators released the 2026 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large teams in mid-June. Of the student-athletes selected, High Point University had six players from the men's lacrosse team earn recognition, including Weston Benson, Ryan Hynes, Robby Lang, Matt Lutzel, Scott Moore and Cole Motter.
 
The 2026 Academic All-District® Men's At-Large teams, selected by College Sports Communicators, recognize the nation's top student athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom. The CSC Academic All-America® program separately recognizes at-large honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and NAIA.
 
Benson, a native of Austin, Texas finished out his college career with a 3.81 GPA in finance. As one of HPU's defenders, he appeared in all 14 games, picking up eight ground balls with a season-high three at Saint Joseph's. He added two caused turnovers during the season and dished out an assist in the season-opener versus VMI.
 
Hynes, a midfielder from Kildeer, Illinois also graduated with a degree in finance with a 3.80 GPA. This season he was named an Atlantic 10 First Team All-Conference player after totaling 21 goals and nine assists for 30 points. He finished the year with a .318 shot percentage and in back-to-back games against Delaware and Saint Joseph's he scored a career-high four goals, helping the Panthers upset the No. 16 Hawks and register the game winner at Delaware.
 
Lang, a senior from Rocky River, Ohio, finished the year with a 3.78 GPA in electrical engineering. On defense, he led the team in caused turnovers with 12, registering four multi-caused turnover games. He also collected 15 ground balls during the season with a career-high five ground balls at RMU and at Hobart.
 
Lutzel, from Huntersville, North Carolina, graduated with a 3.82 GPA in business administration. During his senior season he appeared in all 14 games with eight starts on attack. He scored five goals and dished out an assist on offense while picking up 11 ground balls on defense.
 
Moore, a junior from Trinity, Florida, played on the face-off crew and as a defensive midfielder throughout the season. In the classroom, he posted a 3.83 GPA in finance. He scored his first collegiate goal at Saint Joseph's while picking up a season-high four ground balls. Moore totaled 18 ground balls with a season-high four in two games, versus UMass and at Saint Joseph's.
 
Motter, a sophomore from Eldersburg, Maryland, played on defense for the Panthers and finished the year with a 3.98 GPA in finance. He started in 11 of the 14 games he appeared in and had his best game on defense in the season-opener versus VMI, picking up four ground balls and a caused turnover. Motter scored his first collegiate goal in the A-10 Tournament semifinals from across the field.
 
The High Point men's lacrosse team finished the 2026 season with a strong GPA, closing out the spring semester with a 3.68 team GPA including 17 players with 4.0's for the semester.
