CHARLOTTE, N.C. - The High Point University men's basketball team swept the Big South Conference awards that were announced on Monday, January 12. Conrad Martinez was named the Player of the Week and Caden Miller was named the Freshman of the Week, earning his second award this season.

In both of High Point's wins last week, Martinez averaged 16.5 points per game, 4.5 assists, 3.0 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game. Overall he shot 70.0% from the field and 50.0% from three-point range. In HPU's dominating 104-49 win over Gardner-Webb, Martinez led the team in scoring with 22 points, his second game this season with 20+ points on a career-high nine made field goals. He played in a career-high 36 minutes of the game at Charleston Southern and drained a big time three in overtime to put him in double digits with 11 points. He also led the team in assists in both games dishing out six against the Runnin' Bulldogs and three against the Buccaneers. 

Miller registered his second Freshman of the Week award after averaging 11.0 points per game and 5.5 rebounds per game. He shot an impressive 90.0% from the field after going 9-10 on the week while adding in 4-10 free throws. He scored a season-high 14 points against Gardner-Webb after going 7-8 from the field while picking up two blocks and six rebounds. At CSU he stepped up when starting center, Owen Aquino got into early foul trouble and provided strong minutes with eight points and five rebounds to help HPU win by two in overtime.

HPU travels to Rock Hill, S.C., to take on Winthrop University on Wednesday, January 14, at 6:30 p.m.
