Grady Newton Named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar

NORMAN, Okla. – For the third year in a row, a High Point University men's golfer has been named a 2024-25 Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar, which was announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America on Tuesday afternoon. 

In his final season as a Panther, Grady Newton receives his first Cobalt Golf All-America Scholar accolade. A native of Winston-Salem, N.C., Newton is a two-time graduate of HPU, earning his undergraduate degree in entrepreneurship and his MBA with a concentration in entrepreneurship. 

A total of 548 Division I men's golfers from 188 schools were named Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars.

In 2024, Gregor Meyer became the first Panther to receive two Cobalt Golf All-America Scholars, while Fred Roberts IV earned his first Division I All-America Scholar accolade. In 2023, Meyer and Alan Smith were the first HPU duo to earn the prestigious honor in men's golf history, joining Adam Hooker who earned the award in 2020.

To be nominated, a student-athlete must be a sophomore, junior, or senior both academically and athletically; participate in 50% of their team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0, and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2.
