SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS - The High Point University men's golf team went to the Lone Star State to compete in the Military City Collegiate on Monday and Tuesday. Some early morning frost delayed both mornings, pushing a trio of Panthers to finish round two on Tuesday morning before the final 18 holes at a windy Hill Country Golf Club in San Antonio, Texas.
The Panthers' best round came in the second round, where the team shot an even 288 to work themselves into the top 10 before finishing seventh. Shlok Jain finished in the top 20 for the second straight week as Tully Super joined his fellow sophomore amongst the top-20 player leaderboard.
Head Coach Logan Davis: "Great tournament down in San Antonio this week. I could definitely tell the team was a little out of their comfort zone as the Hill Country Golf Club is very difficult the first few times you see it. I thought we did a lot well as a team this week and saw a few areas we can touch up on individually going into our next event. Conditions were very tough as winds were gusting up to 35 mph throughout the tournaments and the pins were tucked tight to the edges on every hole. I was happy to see how we handled bouncing back after a tough first round, and it was good to have Tully and Shlok finish both in the top 20."
