HIGH POINT, N.C. — The High Point University men's soccer team has solidified its 2025 schedule as HPU Head Coach
Zach Haines and his staff announced the 19-game slate on Thursday.
The Panthers welcome eight teams to Vert Stadium, hosting a pair of national champions in back-to-back home games, while hitting the road for 11 games with three matchups being against NCAA Tournament teams from a year ago.
"We schedule at the highest level we can," Haines said. "We try to get the most NCAA Tournament caliber teams that will play us. This year is another step forward in that we are hosting two of the best programs in the country as two recent national champions are coming to Vert. It's a testament to where our program, athletic department, and university stand in the national landscape. We are excited and will be prepared for the challenge."
The nine-time Big South Conference Champions open the 2025 campaign with a trio of exhibition games. HPU will face Furman (Aug. 9) on home turf, travel to Wofford (Aug. 12), while welcoming Liberty for the annual move-in game on Aug. 16.
In the official season opener on Aug. 21, the Panthers host Georgetown — the 2019 NCAA DI Men's Soccer National Champions — for the team's third-ever matchup and first since 2022. HPU will be vying for the team's first win against the Hoyas (0-1-1).
The Panthers hit the road for three straight games to end August and jumpstart September. HPU heads to East Tennessee State (Aug. 25) after beating the Bucs a year ago, while squaring off with Charlotte (Aug. 29) for the first time since the NCAA Tournament in 2023 and looking for its first win over the 49ers (0-2).
HPU begins a new month at VCU (Sept. 5) for its second trip to Virginia in as many years, aiming to stay undefeated (1-0-1) against the Rams.
The Panthers come back home and welcome the 2020 National Champions and 2024 National Runner-Ups' Marshall University on September 9. It'll be the first time since 2016 that The Herd have come to Vert Stadium, which is the last time the Panthers have won in the series (2-5).
High Point faces Central Arkansas for the first time in program history on Sept. 14, and then cap off its three-game homestand by opening Big South play versus Presbyterian (Sept. 19) for HPU's Family Weekend.
Next, HPU heads to West Virginia (Sept. 23) for the team's first meeting in over a decade. The Mountaineers are coming off their NCAA Tournament season, where they defeated Marshall in the Sun Belt Conference Tournament for an automatic bid. Last playing in 2014, the Panthers head to Morgantown for the first time since 2013 as they compete to add a win to the series (0-2-1).
High Point turns back to conference play with trips to Longwood (Sept. 28) and UNC Asheville (Oct. 4). On the first Wednesday of October, the Panthers head to Triad rival UNC Greensboro (Oct. 8) before closing the week with a home Sunday matchup with USC Upstate (Oct. 12).
After a quick home stint, HPU takes on another road trip with matches at Radford (Oct. 18), Gardner-Webb (Oct. 25), and Davidson (Oct. 28). The Panthers cap the regular season against Winthrop (Nov. 1) on Senior Night.
High Point will begin the postseason with the Big South Conference Tournament (Nov. 5-15), which is hosted by the highest seed, aiming to make it to the championship game for the sixth year in a row.
