BOSTON, Mass. – The High Point University men's track and field team traveled up to Boston for a meet at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University. A select group of distance runners made the trip, including
Jason Thomson,
Avery Crowell and
Gavin Stevens who all raced in the men's 3000m event.
In the second heat, Thomson opened up the day for the Panthers clocking an 8:08.69 time, just two seconds shy from his own school record which was set a year ago at the same meet. Thomson placed 49th overall.
Crowell and Stevens both competed in heat four. Stevens paced the group through majority of the race and posted a new personal best with an 8:08.80 time, just one spot behind Thomson.
UP NEXT: The Panthers will have a month off of competition before returning from Christmas break to compete at Tryon Intercollegiate Opener in Tryon, N.C. on January 10. This is the same facility that the Big South Indoor Championships will be held at in February.
