EUGENE, Ore. – Two incoming High Point University men's track and field athletes are headed to the World Athletics U20 Championships in Eugene, Oregon at Hayward Field. Bence Acsadi and Gabriel Genest will both compete during the week of August 5-9, representing their home countries of Hungary and Canada and HPU athletics.
 
Acsadi, the Hungary native, competes in the men's 3000m steeplechase prelims on Thursday, August 6 at 1:05 p.m. ET (10:05 a.m. PT). The top eight athletes in each heat will advance to the finals on Sunday, August 9 at 5:05 p.m. ET (2:05 p.m. PT). Acsadi qualified with an 8:56.45 time at the Track Night Vienna race on June 20, 2026.
 
Genest, from Canada, will compete in the men's pole vault prelims on Thursday, August 6 at 9:05 p.m. ET (6:05 p.m. PT). The top 12 athletes from the 26 competitors will advance to the finals on Sunday, August 9 at 3:15 p.m. ET (12:15 p.m. PT). Genest qualified with a 5.41m height on June 27, 2026 at the Rencontre de perche ARS #3.
