CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Big South Conference released the 2025 Volleyball All-Conference and Annual Award Winners as voted by the head coaches on Wednesday afternoon, ahead of the Big South Tournament. High Point University had five players make the All-Conference selections with
Maya Bukovcan named the Freshman of the Year.
Maya Bukovcan – Freshman of the Year | First Team All-Conference | All-Freshman Team
Freshman,
Maya Bukovcan from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada was a dominant force in the middle for the Panthers all season. She appeared in all 25 matches and 95 sets and finished third on the team in kills after totaling 205 kills to average 2.16 per set. She was efficient on the offense and led the Big South with a .382 hit percentage. She had her best game of the season against Yale, recording 18 kills on a .571 hitting percentage while contributing three blocks. On the block she led the league averaging 1.14 blocks per set after totaling 108 blocks this season. In the third game of the season, she posted a season-high nine blocks at BYU and finished the season with 5+ blocks in 11 games. She also added 33 digs, 13 assists and 12 service aces to her stats during the season. Bukovcan was named the Freshman of the Week on four occasions.
Élodie Lalonde – First Team All-Conference
Lalonde, a sophomore from Ottawa, Ontario, Canada led the team on the outside attack this season. She averaged 3.75 kills per set and 4.16 points this season to finish second in the league. Overall, she totaled 83 kills and 345.5 points. She posted a career-high 26 points at USC Upstate, which ranks top-10 all-time in single-game kills. During the season she had 17 games in double-digit kills, including four games with 20+ kills. Playing all the way around, she picked up 148 digs to average 1.78 per game. She recorded six double-doubles and posted a season-high 14 against USC Upstate at home. Adding to her stats, she had 13 service aces with a career-high five at Radford in the first game of the conference season. She also registered 40 blocks. Lalonde was named the Big South Player of the Week on October 6 and 20.
Remy Catojo – Second Team All-Conference | All-Freshman Team
Catojo, a freshman from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada has been one of High Point's main setters this season. She totaled 618 assists to average 7.63 assists per set. In conference play, she averaged 9.21 assists per set and posted two season-high 52 assist matches, first against Yale and again at Winthrop. Throughout the season she had 14 games with 20+ assists, three of which registered 50+ assists. On the offense she recorded 70 kills with a season-high seven at Presbyterian. She picked up 152 digs with a season-high 16 at USC Upstate and had nine games with a double-double in assists and digs. Catojo contributed 37 blocks and 11 service aces. She was named the Big South Setter of the Week on October 20 and November 3.
Addison Freeland – Second Team All-Conference
A sophomore from Herriman, Utah, Freeland was one of High Point's top three hitters. She registered 218 kills to average 2.19 per set with a .312 hitting percentage. She had her best game against USC Upstate with 19 kills on a .515 hitting percentage and seven blocks. Throughout the season she had 13 games with 10+ kills and six games with 5+ blocks including a career-high eight blocks versus Presbyterian. She also contributed 17 digs and two assists. On November 3, she was named the Big South Player of the Week.
Allie Gray – Academic All-Conference
Gray, a graduate student from Omaha, Nebraska was one of HPU's setter's this season. During the year, she reached a new career milestone and recorded her 2000th career assist after handing out 345 this season. She averaged 5.23 per set a posted a season-high 42 assists at ETSU. In 10 games she dished out 20+ assists. She added 94 digs,12 blocks and three service aces. Gray is working on her master's in communications and business leadership and has a 3.70 GPA.
High Point will prepare to host the Big South Tournament at the Millis Center beginning on Friday, November 21 through Sunday, November 23. HPU has a first round bye and will play on Saturday, November 22 at 6:00 p.m. against the winner of No. 3 Charleston Southern versus No. 6 Radford. Come out to the Millis Center on Saturday to cheer on the Panthers.
