CARY, N.C. - In the second race of the 2024 season, the High Point Women's Cross Country team placed fifth at the Adidas XC Challenge, hosted by N.C. State. The Panthers were led by graduate student
Alyssa Hendrix in her HPU debut.
Head Coach Remy Tamer: "We're proud of the effort the team put in today, but we know there's more room for growth. We had some solid individual performances here and there, but as a team, we need to work on coordinating these efforts so that we are all firing together. We'll take the lessons learned from this race and focus on refining our technique and teamwork as we prepare for the next meet."
Hendrix was High Point's top finisher, coming in at 17:24.2 for a top-15 finish after hanging with the front group for most of the race. Junior
Charli Montalvo came in as the second Panther at 17:26.0 at 16th overall.
Sophomore
Brianna Malone finished her first race of the season as the third Panther to cross the finish line in a time of 17:40.2 while Alice Jones finished at 18:22.6 as the fourth Panther.
Freshman
Reese Bradbury finished at 18:33.1 as the fifth runner to score for the team.
Anna Ritter was right behind finishing with a time of 18:43.6 and junior
Shauna Skow crossed in at 19:05.7.
Junior
Mikayla Moxley and senior
Nikki Frail came in shortly after, at 19:34.8 and 19:37.0 respectively, while Lauren Voussen finished with a time of 20.14.1.
Evie Wild finished her second race in an HPU jersey with a time of 21:05.3.
