CHARLOTTE, N.C. — High Point University junior Brianna Malone has been named the 2025 Big South Conference Women's Cross Country Runner of the Year, as announced by the conference office on Thursday afternoon.
At the NCAA Southeast Regional, Malone placed 32nd and clocked in a 6k time of 20:15.5 which secured her the honor. She ran a top-20 2k split of 6:26.8. She finished in front of runners from top programs such as NC State and Virginia.
This season she won her third-straight individual conference championship running 16:59.5 in the 5k. She made her season debut in the Adidas XC Challenge running a time of 17:06.5 and placing 15th. Her next meet, Paul Short Run, Malone placed 24th in a competitive field and clocked in a time of 20:21.2. Then came the Panorama Farms Invitational where she placed sixth overall and ran a time of 20:29.3.
Malone, a native of Barrington, N.H., won three conference runner of the week awards this season and was named first-team all conference. She was also the Women's Scholar Athlete of the Year. Malone still has another year, and has all the potential to be a four-time individual conference champion.
