GREENSBORO, N.C. — The High Point University men's golf team wrapped up its first fall tournament with a fourth-place finish at the Bryan National Collegiate on Tuesday afternoon.
Grady Newton led the team with a seventh-place finish followed by
Fred Roberts IV and
Shlok Jain in the top 15.

Newton started with a first round of 4-under 68 with six birdies. He started day two with two birdies on the back nine and two on the front nine and shot a 72. Newton finished out the tournament with a 72 and ended up shooting a 4-under-par 212.
"The tournament was great," Newton stated. "The course was in great shape and the greens were good. I thought the team did very well, considering we are going through some adversity. The freshmen did a great job this week by playing well in their first collegiate tournament. I was proud of the team's confidence going into this tournament. We knew before the first day that we were going to be in contention going into the last day. We didn't have the last day that we wanted, but if we can keep putting ourselves in position to win, we will be a dangerous team."
Roberts IV secured a top 15 finish with a 1-under-par 215. Roberts IV played a consistent first round with four birdies shooting a 71. He hit a 70 in round two with two birdies. In the third round, Roberts IV finished strong with four birdies and shot a 74.
Shlok Jain had a career second round with 7-under-par 65. He tied the lowest 18-hole round for a High Point freshman. Jain shot the second-lowest second round score in program history. He had seven birdies in Round 2. He finished in the top 15 in his first-ever collegiate tournament.
Charlie Barr and
Burch Harrison came in as the fourth and fifth Panthers. Barr finished up the tournament with a 76 in round one. He carded a 71 for round two and ended round three with an 80. Harrison shot an even-par 72 to start the tournament off. In round two, he shot a 77 and 81 for round three.
For the individuals,
Ryan Demit had two birdies in round one, shooting an even-par 72. In round two, he also sunk three birdies to end the round with a 76. In the final round, he shot a 78 and finished T42 overall.
Tully Super finished up his first collegiate tournament with a 222. He finished up the first round with three birdies and shot 73. In round two, Super had five birdies for a 1-under-par 71. In his final round, he finished with 78 and finished T31st overall.
