HPU Finishes Seventh in Power 5 Challenge

BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — High Point University finished seventh at the Hoosier Intercollegiate, which wrapped play on Sunday afternoon.

HPU Head Coach Todd Eckstein: "The Pfau Course was every bit as much of a challenge as we expected, and then some. The length of the course and winds up around 30 miles per hour made scores for every team this week much higher than normal. I thought our guys yet again kept steady in the face of that challenge, even though we didn't have our A game. I think we're still trending in a good direction heading into NC State and the Big South Conference Championship."

High Point fought against difficult weather and Power 5 players to finish seventh as a team. Gregor Meyer led the Panthers, finishing T22 with a 224 total.

Fred Roberts IV and Miller Carr weren't far behind as both finished T35. Roberts was a steady shooter through the tough weather, carding a pair of 74's in the first two rounds to secure a 229 total. Carr had a stellar first round, carding even with three birdies to land a 229 total as well.

Charlie Barr landed in the top-50 with six birdies throughout the tournament, helping him to a T46 finish with a 231 total. Grady Newton rounded out the High Point lineup landing T81 with a 243 total.

Up Next: HPU heads to Raleigh to take on North Carolina State University as the Wolfpack host the Stitch Intercollegiate next Friday.
