BOILING SPRINGS, N.C. — The High Point University women's lacrosse team scored 11 goals in the first quarter and never looked back as the Panthers surged past Gardner-Webb University, 20-6, Saturday afternoon.
HPU is undefeated against the Runnin' Bulldogs, extending its winning streak to 10 games as the Panthers had six with two goals or more. The win also marks back-to-back Big South Conference wins with 20 goals as the Panthers assisted on 12 of those at GWU.

Head Coach Lyndsey Boswell: "Today was another reflection of a full team effort. Our starters got us off to a great start and it was really great getting everyone through the box. I'm happy with the standards our leaders have set. We will continue to get better and work hard to reach those standards every time out."
In the opening five minutes, the Panthers jetted out to a 7-0 lead as six different scorers found the back of the net.
Shannon Smith scored a pair as
Jordan Miles netted four in the first quarter alone, including a dazzling behind-the-back goal via
Kay Rosselli for an 11-1 lead.
Mandy Brockamp scored two in the first 15 minutes, as well, while
Pia Cavallaro added onto her first-quarter goal with another in the second frame after assisting on the first goal. Smith secured her second hat trick of the season in the second quarter, while Rosselli joined the goal column.
Defender
Aryss Lindsey helped the Panthers shut out the Runnin' Bulldogs in the second quarter, outscoring them 4-0 while also closing the half with a breakaway goal for a 15-2 lead.
Lindsey opened the third quarter with her second goal, thanks to an assist from
Elena Sorkin for her career first dish. Sorkin followed it up with her first collegiate goal via
Kierstin Hillis' second of a career-high three assist day.
Reese Dowgiallo was responsible for two assists as the Panthers kept finding teammates in scoring position.
Cha added a goal in the third and fourth quarter to secure a hat trick, while
Mackie Scheib scored her first goal of the season to cap back-to-back 20-goal games.
Joy Coffey and
Ava Welsh combined for the lowest amount of goals allowed all season as the team caused 17 turnovers.
