HIGH POINT, N.C. — High Point University women's lacrosse student-athletes
Sydney Martin and
Caitlyn Baehr were named to the 2026 Academic All-District® Women's At-Large team, selected by College Sports Communicators, which recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in competition and in the classroom.
Martin, a finance major, earns her second CSC Academic All-District award. In her senior season, she was named Big South Conference First Team All-Conference and recorded her 100th career ground ball in the conference tournament. Starting in 16 of 18 appearances, Martin led the team in caused turnovers (23) and is second in ground balls (35). She registered 12 games with two ground balls or more while having seven games with two caused turnovers or more. Martin dished out her first career assist versus Liberty and had a career-high five ground balls on Senior Day against Presbyterian. She is the team's clear master, helping the Panthers maintain nearly a 90 percent clip on clears, and helped register a second-half shutout of Radford and Presbyterian.
Baehr, a communication & business leadership major, earns her first CSC Academic All-District award after being named to the Big South All-Academic team. In her first year back after two seasons riddled with injury, Baehr reached the 100 career ground ball and draw control milestones while starting and playing in all 18 games. She ranked third on the team in ground balls (34), fifth in caused turnovers (15), and third in draw controls (29). Baehr had 10 multi-GB games as she had a career-high five GBs against PC. She had seven games with two or more draw controls, and had a season-best six against PC. She helped register a second-half shutout of Radford and Presbyterian.
To earn recognition, the student-athlete must be a sophomore athletically and academically, maintain at least a 3.50 grade-point average, and adhere to certain criteria per nominating sport (lacrosse: competed in at least 90 percent or start at least 66 percent of games played).
