ROCK HILL, S.C. — Allie Connally scored a career-high five goals, while
Jordan Miles won a career-high 11 draw controls to lead High Point University past Winthrop University, 20-10, for the Panthers' first Big South Conference win of the season Wednesday afternoon.
It was the Panthers' 10th straight win over the Eagles as HPU deposited 20 goals behind 11 different goal scorers. The Panthers had four score their first-ever goal in Purple and White.

Allie has been stepping up the past few weeks – I'm really excited to see her come out of her shell. Jordi has worked hard to be a force on the draw, and today was a reflection of her work. Looking forward to continuing to improve each time out."
The Panthers started hot, hitting an 8-1 run in the first quarter.
Esprit Cha got the party started with help from
Mandy Brockamp while Miles netted a pair sandwiched between goals from
Kay Rosselli and Connally.
Gracie Vickery capped a 7-0 run with her first goal in Purple and White. After Winthrop netted a goal, Cha returned for seconds, finishing the quarter for the Panthers with one last goal for an 8-1 lead.
Pia Cavallaro opened the second with help from
Aryss Lindsey, who spotted Cavallaro making a break for the net and hit her in stride. Rosselli brought HPU to double digits with her second goal.
Kierstin Hillis joined fellow freshman Vickery with her first goal of her career for an 11-2 lead.
Connally took a feed from Cha for her second goal of the day before Winthrop narrowed the deficit with two goals. The half came to a close with High Point holding the lead, 12-5.
After the break, High Point hit another hot streak with a 6-1 run kickstarted by Connally, who netted a hat trick in the first five minutes of the half to five the sophomore a career-high five goals and six points.
"I just feel like I have so much more confidence this year and just knowing that I can execute in a game situation and not only in practice," Connally said, "I feel it has given me a lot of confidence going into games. And I feel my teammates give me a lot of confidence, too, and make me feel very loved."
Shannon Smith and
Mary Sosebee added a goal apiece before Lindsey capped the quarter with her first goal of the day for an 18-6 Panther advantage. Sosebee's score marked her career first, while Lindsey netted her first in Purple and White on a breakaway goal set up by her own caused turnover and ground ball.
The Eagles and the Panthers traded goals in the fourth with Cavallaro taking a feed from Sosebee before assisting Hillis with her second goal of the game. The assist from Sosebee was her first at HPU.
HPU took 28 shots with 24 on goal and of the 11 different scorers, six had two or more.
Joy Coffey and
Ava Welsh split time in the net as Coffey recorded five saves while Welsh secured one.
Cha, Lindsey, and
Sami MacDonald all secured three ground balls each, while Cha had three caused turnovers and Lindsey added two. Miles dominated with draw controls with 11 while Rosselli had four.
