HPU had quite the tournament as the Panthers broke six records (two program and four conference records) en route to their first-place team finish. For program records, High Point smashed the lowest third-round record, which was set two years ago at 278 until HPU carded 272 in the final round. Next, High Point broke the lowest 54-hole record, which was set in 1994 with an 823 total. HPU broke the 30-year-old record by two strokes as the team finished with an 821 total.

For conference championship records, the Panthers first broke the lowest team round, which was previously set at 273 by Coastal Carolina University in 2012. High Point scored two strokes lower with 271 in the second round. HPU broke the 36-hole team score, which was set by Campbell University in 2017 when the team scored 550. The Panthers narrowly bested the Camels with a 36-hole score of 549. Lastly, High Point beat the lowest 54-hole team score and the lowest under-par team score, previously set by Campbell in 2017 when the Camels finished 26-under 838. The Panthers shattered both records when they finished the conference tournament 31-under 821.

HPU's record-breaking performance was led by Fred Roberts IV. Roberts had an incredible showing as he shot 69 in the first round before tying his collegiate low of 8-under 63 with nine birdies in the second, six of which were scored in the back nine. Roberts finished the tournament tied for first with Winthrop's Nick Mayfield, leading to a playoff to determine the tournament's medalist. After shooting even with each other in the first three holes, Roberts took the trophy when Mayfield couldn't sink his putt. Roberts became the second medalist from HPU, preceded by Brendan MacDougall who took the title in 2018.

Along with being the tournament's medalist, Roberts also managed to break the conference championship's lowest 36-hole individual record. The record was previously held by Daniel Kim of Winthrop set at 133 in 2012 until Roberts scored 132 in the first and second rounds. Roberts also tied the conference championship's third-lowest 54-hole round individual record with his 204 total and tied the second-lowest under-par round record with his 8-under score in the second.

Roberts wasn't the only golfer to have a great tournament as T3 finisher Gregor Meyer also saw quite a bit of success. Meyer carded 69 and 70 in the first two rounds before making more strides in the third with an eagle on the first hole and his first collegiate hole-in-one on hole 12, helping him to score 66 in the final round for a 205 total.

Grady Newton also finished T3 for the Panthers for a spot on the All-Championship Team. Newton and Meyer carded the same scores throughout the tournament as Newton carded 70 in the first, 66 in the second, and 69 in the third for a 205 total. Although Newton didn't card any eagles, the senior did secure 15 birdies throughout the tournament.

Miller Carr had an outstanding first conference championship as the freshman finished stroke play T7. Carr scored 70 and 74 in rounds one and two, respectively, before hitting a hot streak in the third round with five birdies and an eagle to card 65 and finish with a 209 total.

Charlie Barr rounded out the Panther lineup in T28. Barr was a steady shooter, carding 74, 72, and 75 throughout the tournament to score 221.

High Point's first-place finish advances the Panthers to the match play portion of the Big South Conference Tournament. HPU will be competing against fourth-place Gardner-Webb University. Carr will tee off first at 8:00 a.m. against Max White. Newton will follow matched against Jules Bondil, Roberts will take on Bradley Davis Jr., Barr will face Jack Boyer, and Meyer will compete against Carter Rains. The winner between GWU and High Point will face the winner of No. 2 Winthrop and No. 3 Radford University to compete for the Conference Championship and for a spot in the NCAA Regional Championship Tournament.
