HPU Head Coach Todd Eckstein: "This tournament is our greatest challenge this season, and I am excited to see how our guys rise to the occasion. Not only will the competition be at an NCAA Regional field level, but the golf course will be an imposing test. This lineup had a great week in Hilton Head despite not having our collective A-game, and I believe they'll be ready for the challenge this week."

This week, High Point travels to Florida State to compete in the Seminole Intercollegiate among several Power 5 teams. Seminole Intercollegiate host Florida State University recently attended the Cabo Collegiate Invitational with Ole Miss. Both teams tied each other for fifth with an 857 team total.

The Power 5 opponents at the Seminole Intercollegiate will present a very difficult challenge for the Panthers. According to senior Gregor Meyer, the Panthers have been working diligently to prepare for the challenge ahead.

"The team has been working hard to make sure the basics are taken care of," Meyer said. "The basics are making sure you are putting the ball in play on tee shots, hitting it close on wedge distances, which are 130 yards and shorter, and making a solid game plan to ensure more birdie opportunities and bogey avoidance.

"The course is a little longer than what we are used to," Meyer continued. "In preparation we have made our home course as long as possible. This change in yardage has forced us to adjust to playing into longer approaches. Another thing is to train pressure practice for when the time comes and we are in competition. Being able to stay cool is important. By practicing pressure situations among each other helps when the nerves amp up."

Last time out, Meyer scored his new career-low score of 6-under 66 with a bogey-free round of six birdies. Meyer's round of 66 was the lowest round recorded in the tournament and assisted him to a T5 finish. The senior's impressive performance led HPU to a T4 team finish.

"Shooting a new low was awesome; however, I am looking forward to beating it," Meyer said. "I felt like going into the tournament there was a great deal of prep in terms of being able to control the ball. Playing in windy conditions for around the past month has allowed me to have a great confidence in my ability to hit shots in harder environments.

"The second factor was that I had a great deal of trust in my game plan," Meyer continued. "I didn't expect to shoot as low as I did but my game plan allowed me to do so. That was one of the hardest challenges mentally was sticking to the game plan and not forcing shots. My main mentality has been to continue to embrace the challenge. Whatever the challenge is to embrace it and take it on full speed."

Meyer will be holding the No. 1 spot at the Seminole Intercollegiate, while Jay Smith, Fred Roberts IV, Grady Newton and Burch Harrison will round out the lineup.
