EARLYSVILLE, VA. — The High Point University men's cross country team traveled to the University of Virginia to compete in the Panorama Farms Invitational on Saturday at 8:45 AM.
Hunter Steinau continued his impressive streak as High Point's top finisher for the third consecutive week, leading the team to an 11th place finish.
Head Coach Mike Esposito: "This meet was a very positive step forward for us. Not necessarily the placing we were hoping for, but our organization and intent was so much better. We are training very well and with consistency. This group believes in the process and they believe in each other. Now we sharpen up over the next few weeks and get ready to compete for a conference championship"
For the third time this season, Steinau emerged as High Point's top finisher, clocking in at an impressive 24:24.0. This performance is only seven seconds shy of his personal best, showcasing his continued improvement and dedication during his weekly training. He finished 55th overall.
Graduate student
Jason Thomson finished just behind Steinau with a season-best time of 24:39.3, surpassing his previous performance at the Paul Short Run by over a minute.
Senior
Graham Ferguson was the third Panther to cross the finish line, recording a time of 24:45.1. This marks a personal best for him, improving on his time from last year's Big South Cross Country Championship. He finished 73rd overall, achieving his best placement so far this season.
Sophomore
Gavin Stevens finished just behind Ferguson with a time of 24:49.9, while senior
Aiden Morrison followed closely at 25:23.9. Together, they secured the fourth and fifth spots for the Panthers.
Jacob Fiorillo and
Jake Tarosky wrapped up the race with times of 25:31.9 and 25:34.1, respectively, as they paced each other during the final 1k.
Kyler Koning maintained a steady pace, finishing with 25:51.8, while
Klaus Mangeot concluded the race with a 27:22.5 time.
