Boston, Mass. / Clemson, S.C. / Winston-Salem, N.C. – The High Point men's and women's track and field teams split three ways this weekend, taking different groups to three different states. The Panthers were represented at the Riverhawk Invitational, the Bob Pollock Invitational and the Camel City Invite.
Setting a school record in the women's 400m race at the Bob Pollock Invitational,
Dae'Nitra Hester ran a personal best 55.59 and finished in 13
th place out of 46 competitors.
In just his third meet as a Panther,
Andrew Taylor broke his previous school record in the men's high jump. Taylor cleared a height of 2.18m to take home another first-place finish.
At the Bob Pollock Invitational at Clemson University, three heptathlon athletes placed third through fifth.
Felix Leblanc finished third with 4,679 points,
Kolt Byers finished fourth with 4,602 points and
Evan Mills placed fifth with 4,580 points.
In the men's 400m race,
Marquis Belle and
Kelly Bell continues to achieve new personal best times every meet. Running in the same heat, Belle recorded a time of 49.21 while Bell recorded a time of 49.57.
In the men's 3000m race,
Jason Thomson recorded a personal best time of 8:14.88 to place fifth overall. A freshman
Kyle Spencer also recorded a personal best in the 3000m at 8:37.88.
Graham Ferguson raced in the men's 800m race and finished 11
th overall out of 32 runners with a time of 1:54.90.
In the throwing events,
Chris Van Nierkerk placed third overall in the men's shot put after throwing a season best 18.17m.
Three pole vaulters represented High Point at the Riverhawk Invitational in Boston, Massachusetts.
Sydney Horn cleared 4.20m and took first place while
Auriane Viola took fourth with a height of 3.90m
