ELON, N.C. — The
High Point University women's cross country placed four runners in the top 10 en route to a second-place team finish at the Elon Opener Friday night.
Head Coach Remy Tamer: "The women raced with some fire tonight. Before the race, I asked that they take a risk and put themselves in an uncomfortable spot competitively. I was thrilled to see them take those risks and be aggressive when opportunity presented itself. For the first meet, to see each and every one of the women do that, was a success. We have a special group this year. It's still early in the season, but I see sparks of greatness in these women. They can create something meaningful this year."
The Panthers came out strong at their first meet of the season, with four of their eight runners placing in the top 10 out of 115 competitors. The first runner to cross the finish line was freshman, Brianna Malone. Malone placed seventh overall and ran a time of 13:33.5.
