The High Point University women's track and field teams competed at two loaded meets, including the Wake Forest Invitational and the UVA Challenge on Friday.

Marissa Blakely (56.28s) and
Dae'Nitra Hester (56.36s) each posted a top-20 finishes in the women's 400m dash in Charlottesville, finishing 17
th and 19
th, respectively.
Abi Craig also finished 25
th in 57.07 seconds.

Katie Taylor finished the night at UVA with a personal best in the women's 10,000m run, crossing the finish line in 35:28.79 and shaving two minutes off the previous best she set at last season's Big South Championships. Taylor finished sixth in the event while
Anna Ritter was 13
th in 36:54.14.

In field event action,
Amanda Scattergood and
Letizia Marsico finished 18
th and 19
th, respectively, in the discus. Scattergood tossed for 43.51m while Marsico finished the day with a mark of 43.04m. At the triple jump,
Alicia Dawson finished eighth with a mark of 12.45m on her final attempt.

Two HPU pole vaulters made great strides to increase their chances at an NCAA Championships First Round bid.
Rachel Vesper finished tied for second with her outdoor season best at 4.10m while
Mackenzie Horn also cleared 4.10m for fourth place in her first outdoor meet of the season.
Anjali Mead was seventh while clearing 4.00m on her first attempt.

At the javelin,
Kelly Chaballa,
Julia Newman, and
Lilly Wolf finished back-to-back-to-back. Chaballa was 19
th with a mark of 37.32m while Newman followed at 36.45m and Wolf finished with a mark of 33.75m.

At the Wake Forest Invite,
Olive Allen ran a personal best in the 1,500m run, winning the event in 4:21.43, just over a half-second off the program record.
Lindsey Ickes also finished fourth in the 10,000m run with a time of 34:51.50.

Up Next: HPU athletes are set to compete tomorrow in Charlottesville to round out the UVA Challenge. Field and track events are set to begin at noon on Saturday.
