NINETY SIX, SC. – The High Point men's golf team closed out their season at the Big South championships with a sixth-place finish overall.
Charlie Barr led the week with a two-under par 214 for a third-place finish on the leaderboards and a spot on the All-Championship team.

Across the Three Rounds
Barr led the way for the Panthers through the all 54-holes of the tournament. He remained solid throughout the week, carding three-under par 69 in his opening round. He registered a round high six birdies on the first 18 before finishing out the week with four birdies for a score of one-under par 71.
Also finishing in the top 20, Smith tied for 19
th place with USC Upstate's Barrett Josey. Smith opened the tournament going one-under with a birdie on his second hole. Staying even through the front nine, three bogey's shot him three-over on hole No. 16. A birdie and an eagle made up for it and brought him back even to finish out round one. Experiencing a lull on the second round, Smith dominated in the final round, carding five birdies to go as low as four-under through 13 holes. A tough time on hole No. 16 brought his score back up to even to end the last round.
Meyer, like Smith, started off the week off strong carding an even par 72 in the first round. In his second round he carded 12 pars and a birdie for a score of 5-over 77. He finished the week out with three birdies, leading to a three-over 75.
Along with Smith, Newton shot a birdie on hole No. 8 in the opening round. Newton scored his best round in the second round of the day with a 3-over par 75 to finish in a tie for 30
th.
The freshman, Harrison had a solid performance in the final round of the two-day event. Registering 13 pars and two birdies, he scored a 1-over par 73.
