Head Coach Todd Eckstein
"Our team is very close to a breakthrough. We hit a lot of quality golf shots this week and couldn't quite get the putts to drop. Gregor had another solid week, and Charlie's bogey – free round today was one of the best of the season. We're moving in the right direction heading into the best field of our regular season."
Â
Gregor Meyer was the lone Panther to shoot under par in round one. Meyer birdied two par 5's, including his first hole of the day, which lead him to a 1-under-par round of 71.
Alan Smith birdied his final hole of the day to move him to even par after day one. As a team, High Point was tied for fifth after the first 18 holes of play.
High Point fell to sixth after the second round.
Grady Newton was under par in round two. After starting with two bogeys on his first three holes, Newton settled in, making three birdies and playing his final 15 holes of the day bogey-free for a 1-under-par round of 72.
Charlie Barr and
Burch Harrison also made three birdies in the second round. Barr finished his second 18 even par while Harrison shot a 1-over-par 73.
Barr carried his round two momentum into round three. He was the only Panther to shoot a bogey-free round, carding a 2-under-par 70 to move to 1-under-par for the week. Meyer started his third round with a bogey, but was able to rattle off three birdies and stay bogey-free in his final 17 holes to shoot a round of 70. Two of Meyer's birdies came on par 3's, holes in which Meyer played a two under par, which was tied for the second-best par-3 scoring in the field.
As a team, High Point made 191 pars, the most of any team in the field.
