Men's Golf Announces New Additions Before Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate

HIGH POINT, N.C. – The High Point University men's golf team heads into the 2025 season with new faces after a second-place finish in the Big South Championship.

Returning senior Burch Harrison competed at a high level for High Point last season and will look to be the leader in 2025 as the team has many new additions to the program.

"I am extremely excited to have all of our new players on our team! Sean Shallat, William Hudson, James Hassell, and Savar Bhasin. When I was recruiting all of them, I knew they would fit into our team culture here at High Point University," HPU Head Coach Logan Davis said.

Davis states that all three freshmen are hungry to learn and always want to improve. They want to win.

Bhasin hails from Millbury, Mass, and was a two-time state champion in high school. He is a member of USNDP Team Massachusetts. Hudson, from Louisville, Ky., was the runner-up at the Memorial Junior AJCA in 2025. He was also the Kentucky Cup individual and team champion.

Shallat comes off of a high school career where he was a four-time all-state golfer at Friends Academy. From Dix Hills, N.Y., Shallat was the Long Island and State Champion.

Coach Davis had the following to say about Hassell, his one transfer, "James transferred in from the University of South Florida, our only transfer for this season. He is bringing in some knowledge for the younger players and experience in college golf as well."

Hassell comes into HPU with two years of collegiate experience, and although he is a new face, he can help lead the new freshmen. In high school, he was the 3-A FHSAA State Individual Champion and won the 3-A FHSAA District Championship.

The Panthers open up the season at the Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, and the lineup is as follows:

  1. Burch Harrison

  2. Carter Pitcairn

  3. Shlok Jain

  4. Tully Super

  5. Jay Smith

Redshirt senior Carter Pitcairn and sophomore Shlok Jain, who is coming off a freshman campaign be awarded two Freshman of the Week honors, will also look to take charge this season. Returners junior Jay Smith and sophomore Tully Super join Harrison, Pitcairn and Jain in the team's season-opening tournament lineup.

"I can't wait to see what this team will bring to the table this year. I am eager to watch each player grow on and off the golf course, becoming the best they can be in golf and in life. The future is bright for the Men's Golf team, and I am so grateful I get to be a part of this journey! Go Panthers!," Davis said.

Look out for the Panthers as they head to Myrtle Beach to open the season. The Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate takes place from Sept. 7th to 9th.
