Site: Cassell Coliseum
Score: High Point 55, Virginia Tech 94
Record: High Point (0-1, 0-0), Virginia Tech (1-0, 0-0)
Head Coach Chelsea Banbury: "I think we played a very good team tonight and just made too many mistakes in our game plan. I think our girls are ready to learn from it and get back to work to improve."
High Point struggled early to find their rhythm. Scoring did not come easy tonight as the Hokies played lockdown defense. However,
Amaria McNear knocked down her first three pointer as
Lauren Bevis,
Nakyah Terrell, Anna Hager,
Claire Wyatt and
Shakira Baskerville also found the basket before halftime.
HPU was able to find easy buckets throughout the game off free throws as they went a perfect 16-16 from the line.
Bukky Akinsola, Wyatt, Terrell, and Bevis did not miss a free throw all night.
Bevis and Terrell were the Panthers top scorers as they both put away 15 points.
Up Next: High Point will welcome Lees-McRae to the Qubein Center for the regular season home opener on Saturday, Nov. 11 at 2 p.m.
