HPU Wraps up Paradise Jam Tournament

ST. THOMAS – Three Panthers score in double digits as the High Point University women's basketball team fell short to Arizona State as the Paradise Jam Tournament concludes.

Site: University of the Virgin Islands
Score: High Point 69, Arizona State 77
Records: High Point (3-4), Arizona State (6-2)

Head Coach Chelsea Banbury: "I'm not happy coming out on the short end of things. I thought we played the best that we have played since we have been here. The second half yesterday we got a little better and this game we got better than yesterday. I am happy with that progress. I would have liked to get a win, but we did not make enough plays to do that. Our girls played hard, three games in three days against teams that are bigger, faster, and stronger can be hard on your body."

High Point played a complete game tonight against the Sun Devils. HPU was able to hold ASU honest the whole game. Putting up a fight till the last buzzer.

Anna Hager, Faith Price, and Lauren Bevis all scored in the double digits in tonight's contest. Bevis and Price had 15 points while Hager put up a career high 16 points.

"Anna and Faith were huge off the bench for us," said Banbury. "They came in and gave us a spark. They attacked the basket and Faith knocked down some big three's when she got in. Three people with that many points, you become harder to guard and you can't focus on just one person."

High Point played solid defense as a team gathering 30 rebounds. Hager had six while Nevaeh Zavala, Nakyah Terrell and Price took in five off the boards.

Zavala drained eight points going 2-3 from the line and knocking down one three.

Price and Zavala were both able to knock down late threes to keep HPU in the game.

Up Next: High Point is back home in the Qubein Center against Johnson C. Smith University on Thursday, Nov. 30 at 7 p.m.
