HIGH POINT, N.C. – Fifth year attackman Asher Nolting of the High Point University men's lacrosse team was selected 10th overall in the 2nd round by the Cannons in the 2022 Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) Draft Tuesday evening (May 10). He is now the highest PLL draft pick in HPU history.
Nolting becomes the third High Point player to be drafted in the PLL Draft. A Panther has been selected in three of the four PLL College Drafts. Nolting will join fellow Panthers Tim Troutner Jr., Kevin Rogers, and Dalton Sulver in the PLL as they are all on active rosters. Nolting reunites with former Panther teammate Sulver as they will both enter training camp as members of the Cannons. (Sulver was added from the player pool during the off season.
The selection of Nolting by the Cannons sets up the PLL's youngest franchise to have a possible starting attack line with two of College Lacrosse's most prolific scorers as Nolting, 9th all time in points has the opportunity to line up next to Lyle Thompson, 2nd all time.
Nolting finished his college career with the ninth most points in the history of collegiate lacrosse with 344 points. He recorded at least one point in every single game he played in at HPU. Nolting scored 34 goals and added 47 assists for 81 points on the season.
