The High Point women's lacrosse team will take their first road trip of the Big South Conference season as they head to Spartanburg to face Wofford on Saturday (April 2). It will be their first time facing them as a conference opponent. The first draw is set for 1 pm.

Matchup History

• Saturday will be the first ever match up between the Panthers and the Terriers 
• This is Wofford's first season competing as a member of the Big South conference.

• The Terriers are 2-6 through their first six games of the 2022 season with victories coming against Akron and Delaware State 
• Wofford is coming off of a 20-11 loss against Furman on Wednesday
• Olivia Abe currently leads the offense for Wofford with 7 goals and 14 assists on the season.
• Kim Orie Eldridge is in her 3rd year as the Wofford head coach. 

Hormes Holding It Down
Abby Hormes is eighth in NCAA Division I active career leaders for points per game (4.49), fifth in goals (241), and eighth in goals per game (3.40).
Hormes holds High Point records for goals (241), points (318), shots (449), shots on goal (341), and is tied for third for game-winning goals (9). For each HPU record she holds, Hormes completed the feat in the fewest games played (70).

The Chase for Seven
HPU owns the title to the past four Big South Tournament Championships (2017, 2018, 2019, 2021) after the 2020 Tournament was canceled due to COVID-19. High Point has also been the regular season Big South champion in each of the past four seasons. In the eight years of the conference championships, the Panthers have claimed five regular season titles and six tournament titles.

Kraft and Hormes Earn Preseason Recognition
Jenna Kraft and Hormes were named to the 2022 Big South Preseason All-Conference Team. Kraft earned her first preseason nod after forcing 26 ground balls and 16 caused turnovers last season.

Hormes Named Preseason Player of the Year
Abby Hormes was named the Big South's Preseason Offensive Player of the Year for the fourth straight season after a stellar senior campaign. Hormes recorded 98 points (76g, 22a), 16 caused turnovers, and 32 ground balls in 2021.
