HIGH POINT, N.C. – High Point University men's lacrosse head coach
Jon Torpey has announced the schedule for the upcoming 2023 season. The Panthers will be joining the Atlantic 10 in 2023 as the conference will be adding men's lacrosse as its 22nd sport. HPU and Hobart will be joining A-10 institutions UMASS, Richmond, St. Bonaventure, and Saint Joseph's making up a six-team league fulfilling the NCAA requirement for an automatic bid for postseason eligibility. HPU will be reunited with former SoCon foe Richmond. High Point and Hobart join the A10 exclusively for men's lacrosse as affiliate members of the Atlantic 10.

Jon Torpey. "As we enter into the A-10 conference, we look forward to facing new opponents and forming some new rivalries."
High Point opens 2023 with an exhibition contest at Marquette in late January before opening the regular season at Duke on February 7
th. HPU has faced an ACC opponent every season since the inception of the program and will continue the trend with in-state opponents Duke and North Carolina on March 22
nd. This season will mark the 11
th time the Panthers meet the Blue Devils and the seventh time they meet the Tar Heels, both games will be played on the road for High Point.
The Panthers host their first home game on Saturday, February 11
th, when they take on Detroit Mercy for the second-straight year in Vert Stadium. Last season, HPU picked up an 18-8 win over the Titans.
The HPU schedule features the Panthers' second ever matchup with Navy on Saturday, February 25
th, in Vert Stadium. Despite trailing 6-2 after the first quarter, High Point stormed back and posted a 14-13 win in Annapolis in its first meeting with Navy.
Michael Ippolito scored the game-winning goal, one of his team-high four goals, with 4:17 to play in the game.
The Panthers add Georgetown back to the schedule in 2023 as the last meeting between the two teams occurred in the 2018 season. In the two previous matchups, HPU is 1-1, scoring a 9-3 win in the 2017 season in High Point. Georgetown played in the NCAA Tournament last season against Delaware, suffering a narrow 10-9 loss to the Blue Hens in the first round. The Panthers and Hoyas meet on Saturday, March 18th.
HPU travels to its first Atlantic 10 contest on April 1
st to Massachusetts before hosting Hobart the next week on April 8
th. The Panthers go back on the road for the next two weeks, traveling to Richmond and St. Bonaventure.
High Point closes out the regular season on April 29
th as they host Saint Joseph's for its final A-10 matchup of the season.
The Atlantic 10 conference tournament is set for May 4
th-6
th, with semifinals played on Thursday and the tournament championship set for Saturday.
