HIGH POINT, N.C.-- The High Point University men's soccer team closed out the preseason in front of a capacity crowd on move-in weekend on Saturday was back in action inside Vert Stadium on Saturday (Aug. 21st) night against College of Charleston. In HPU's final exhibition match of the preseason, the Panthers and Cougars played to a 1-1 draw.

In the 4th minute of play, HPU wasted no time in getting the action started as Alex Abril scored his first goal of the Preseason. The senior put his footwork on full display as he made a beautiful move and created space to score to give his Panthers a 1-0 advantage early.
After the early score from the Purple & White, the two sides held each other scoreless for a majority of the time remaining.
In the 86th minute, the College of Charleston found its equalizer scoring to tie the game at one.
The Panthers recorded 11 shots while Charleston shot seven times. Holden Trent made three saves and the Cougars went on to make four saves on the night.
The Move-In crowd at HPU is known to be historically great and tonight was no different as the 2021 Move-In crowd for the game against College of Charleston set a new High Point Soccer attendance record of 2,312.
The night was capped off by a firework show to celebrate the arrival of High Point University's class of 2025.
