The High Point University men's lacrosse team (7-5) is headed to the SoCon Championship after an 11-9 victory over Jacksonville on Wednesday night. The Panthers will take on number one seeded Richmond for the SoCon title on Friday at noon. High Point and Richmond both clinched a share of the SoCon regular-season championship in the last game of the 2021 regular season. Friday's championship game will be broadcast at noon on ESPN+.

2021 Matchup History
In their previous matchup, earlier this season Richmond was victorious 17-10. Against the Spiders, the Panthers had three multigoal scorers as Kevin Rogers, Asher Nolting, and Dalton Sulver each scored two goals on the night. Nolting led the way in points for HPU with three as he scored two goals and added an assist. Seven Panthers scored for HPU on Friday night. 
SoCon Championship History
This is High Point's third SoCon Championship game appearance all three meetings have come against Richmond. The Panthers are 1-1 all-time in SoCon Championship games. The last time HPU played Richmond for the SoCon Championship in Richmond was 2015 where the Panthers won their first SoCon Championship. High Point is appearing in its second consecutive SoCon title game. 
Across the Bench
	- Richmond is led in points by the 2021 SoCon Offensive Player of the Year Ryan Lanchbury who has 64 points. Lanchbury has scored 26 goals and has added 38 assists on the year. 
- The Spiders are 7-5 on the year this season and 5-1 in SoCon play, Dan Chemotti earned SoCon coach of the year honors for the second time in his career and his first Coach of the Year honor since 2015.

High Point Advances to the SoCon Championship
The Panthers The High Point University men's lacrosse team pushed past Jacksonville 11-9 on Wednesday(May 5th)night in the SoCon semifinal to earn a spot in the SoCon Championship game. Kevin Rogers and Brayden Mayea finished with three goals each helping the Panthers to victory. 
Passing Gary Gait
With 10:52 to play in the first against Jacksonville last time out, Asher Nolting scored to put HPU up 2-1. With his early goal, Nolting tied the legendary Gary Gait for career collegiate points with 253. With 6:03 to play in the first, the All-SoCon freshman team selection Mayea got on the board for High Point. Nolting was able to fake and create enough space at X to find Mayea in the front of the goal as he was able to finish. With that assist, Nolting passed Gait for career points with 254. Nolting ended the night with four points moving his career total to 256.
Save Green
In the SoCon semifinal, The Dolphins went on a five-goal run in the fourth to make it a two-goal game with five minutes to play in the fourth quarter. Green and the defense held Jacksonville scoreless for the last five minutes of the game to secure the victory. Green made two huge plays down the stretch in the last five minutes to protect the lead for HPU. With 2:09 to play Green saved a shot that was a quality scoring opportunity for JU to keep the lead at two for High Point. With 33 seconds left Green chased down a shot that went behind the cage and dove out of bounds with a Jacksonville player right beside him. Green was the closest and won possession for the Panthers. High Point went on to close out the game and win 11-9. 
Panthers Earn All SoCon Honors
Brayden Mayea, Asher Nolting, and Kevin Rogers received All-Southern Conference honors as announced by the conference office on Tuesday (May 4th) morning. Mayea was named to the All SoCon Freshman team while Nolting and Rogers earned First-team honors.
Krol on a Roll
Clayton Krol has now gone two weeks in a row with a goal and like his long-range goal two weeks ago against Air Force, his goal against Jacksonville on Saturday, provided great momentum for HPU. Krol fired one in from the restraining line to put HPU up 4-0 in the first quarter. 
Nolting's National Streak
Asher Nolting has scored a point in every single game of his career. It is a streak that continued Wednesday night against Jacksonville as he had four points in the win. The streak spans 49 games.
 Mr. 250
 After amassing 200 points earlier this year, with three points in the game against Jacksonville Nolting recorded his 250th career point in a High Point uniform on Saturday.
