The 2021 Big South Champion High Point University's women's lacrosse team (10-7) (6-0) are headed back to the NCAA tournament for the seventh time as they will be facing Maryland. The first-round NCAA Tournament game will take place at Koskinen Stadium on the campus of Duke University. HPU vs Maryland will air on ESPN3 at 7:00 PM.

Panthers in the NCAA Tournament
The last time HPU faced Maryland in the tournament was in 2017 during its historic run with the institution's first-ever NCAA Tournament win which came in the first round over Towson. The last two out of three trips to the NCAA Tournament have taken the Panthers to College Park, Md. This time HPU stays in North Carolina and will face Maryland in Durham, N.C. at Koskinen Stadium on the campus of Duke University. It will be High Point's second time playing an NCAA Tournament game in North Carolina. This HPU's seventh time making the tournament as an Automatic qualifier.
Maryland in 2021
The Terps enter Friday night's contest 9-6 on the season and as the #12 team in the nation. Maryland's leading scorer is Hannah Leubecker who has 53 goals on the season.
Terps In the Tourney
This the first time Maryland's opening game in the NCAA tournament will be played somewhere besides College Park, MD Since 2006. Maryland will be playing in an NCAA First Round game for the first time since 2013.

Hormes is a Household Name
Abby Hormes now has 75 goals on the year, the third-most in a single season in Big South history. She has 96 points in the campaign for the second-most in program history and third-most in conference history and now has 208 goals and 279 points in her career, the most in High Point history and second-most in Big South history in both categories.
Her 75 goals are the second-most in the nation.
Big South Champs
The High Point University women's lacrosse team won its fourth consecutive Big South Championship on Sunday afternoon (May 2) with a 20-7 victory over Radford University in the title game at Vert Stadium. Not only is this HPU's fourth tournament title in a row, but it is also the Panthers' fourth straight year winning both the tournament and the regular season. The Purple and White now have a total of 11 Big South Championships, with six tournament titles and five trophies from the regular season. High Point won the championship in a record-setting fashion as the 20 goals are the most any team has scored in a Big South title game.
Sister, Sister
At the start of Big South Play against Campbell, Katie Hormes scored the first goals of her Panther career. In six Big South regular-season games and two conference tournament games, the Hormes sisters combined for 55 goals.
ESPN'S #LaxTop5 High Point Heavy
Jill Rall, Rachel Foster, and Sarah Zeto have been showcased in ESPN's #LaxTop5 which highlights the top five plays in women's lacrosse that week and is shown during the women's lacrosse game of the week on the ESPN networks. Rall's play was shown this week as she assisted an Abby Hormes goal in a clearing effort Foster's shovel goal against Vanderbilt was number one four weeks ago, while Zeto's diving save against Coastal where she made a stop then dove backward and stopped the ball from rolling in was five three weeks ago.
